Intuition

When I tell friends that I belong to a book group that reads science-fiction I never fail to get all kinds of comments and thoughts about yucky creatures from alien worlds. And they say, "oh, I don't read that stuff." That stuff is not all about yucky creatures from alien worlds. It is about yucky creatures from our world as well. It also attempts to address the ethical and spiritual issues of the world as we know it in all its guises.

This month (today) we are gathering at Deb's where we will indulge in a bagel brunch and discuss Allegra Goodman's "Intuition" -- how does this book fit into our reading? Well, we did and do continue to take poetic license and define sci-fi for ourselves - -for us, it must be fiction, must be plausible, and must relate to science. "Intuition" fits. It is a good read and hopefully will prove to hold its own during our discussion. And hopefully Allegra won't mind that we read it as sci-fi.
